FAQ

A semiconductor oxide chemical sensor utilizing solid electrolyte cell technology to detect CO₂. When maintained at a specific operating temperature within a CO₂ atmosphere, electrochemical reactions occur at the battery's positive and negative electrodes. An electromotive force develops between the sensor's sensitive electrode and reference electrode, generating an output signal voltage inversely proportional to the logarithm of CO₂ concentration. Changes in CO₂ concentration are detected by measuring variations in this signal voltage.

Most CO₂ sensor probes operate stably under normal humidity conditions. However, prolonged high humidity, condensation, or water vapor exposure may compromise the stability of infrared chambers and optical components. For use above 90% RH or in outdoor humid environments, select probes featuring moisture-proof construction, heating compensation, or an IP65 or higher protection rating. Additionally, prevent water droplets from entering the vent holes directly to avoid reading drift or temporary failure. For use in agricultural greenhouses, incubators, or constant-humidity laboratories, ensure adequate ventilation and regularly inspect the sensor membrane condition.

Common issues include reading drift, slowed response, increased noise, or saturation in high CO₂ environments. These issues are typically caused by contamination, dust, smoke, VOC interference, or long-term aging. If readings are significantly elevated or fluctuate noticeably, check for clogged air intakes, recalibrate the zero point, or replace the filter membrane. For prolonged use in enclosed spaces, disabling the auto-baseline function may be necessary. Ensuring the CO2 sensor operates within the recommended temperature and humidity range, while maintaining cleanliness and stable airflow, can significantly extend its lifespan.
