    "True RMS" stands for True Root Mean Square, which enables the sensor to accurately measure both pure sine waves and distorted waveforms (like square, triangular, or non-linear loads). It ensures precise readings regardless of waveform shape, making it ideal for industrial and power electronics applications.

     

    A True RMS sensor accurately measures distorted or non-sinusoidal waveforms, including those with harmonics. In contrast, average-responding sensors are only accurate with pure sine waves and can produce errors when measuring variable-speed drives or switched-mode power supplies.

     

    No, the sensor is self-contained with built-in current sensing and signal conditioning. There's no need for additional external shunts or current transformers.
