Machine Safety Light Curtain, Side Light, 4-34 Beam

A side light safety light curtain is a type of safety light curtain design where the light beam is emitted from the side of the light curtain rather than the front. It positions the optical windows of the transmitter and receiver on the side, allowing the light curtain sensor to be mounted close to equipment or in confined spaces.

• Side-emitting safety light curtains emit infrared light beams from the side of the housing. This compact structure makes them suitable for narrow installation spaces such as those found in machine tools and jigs. It also shortens the safety distance required for machine integration, allowing operators to work closer to the hazard point to improve production efficiency. Furthermore, the side-mounted working window and lens design precisely define the protected area, accommodating needs such as single-sided access protection.
• Front-emitting safety light curtain sensors, on the other hand, emit infrared light beams from the front of the housing. This is a more conventional type of safety light curtain, typically with a regular shape to accommodate the front-facing beam array. It is more suitable for installation in the front of hazardous areas of equipment such as stamping machines, automated assembly lines, and logistics conveyor lines.

Side light safety light curtains are primarily used in industrial scenarios where front installation space is limited or where it is necessary to avoid mechanical structures interfering with beam transmission. For example, small 3C component processing machines with limited internal space, the gap areas between robotic arms requiring lateral protection, the side gaps of compact assembly lines, and the lateral hazardous areas of rotating equipment. They can provide safety protection without affecting the normal operation of other equipment components.
