Overview

Ultrasonic label sensor delivers high-speed, precise label detection with a slot width of 5mm and slot depth of 68mm, capable of detecting label gaps ≥2mm. The label sensor features NPN+PNP output types, easily identifying single-sheet, double-sheet, and no-label conditions. Green light indicates single sheet, red light indicates double sheet, and yellow light indicates air gap. Built-in reverse polarity protection circuit supports wide voltage input (10-30VDC).

Feature

  1. Precise Detection of Transparent Labels: Ultrasonic label sensors identify thickness differences between labels and backing paper through acoustic signals, unaffected by material light transmittance. They deliver stable detection even on transparent or semi-transparent labels, eliminating misjudgments common with traditional photoelectric sensors.
  2. High-Speed Response for Assembly Lines: Response times as low as microseconds support high-speed labeling and slitting equipment. This ensures accurate signal output during mass production, enhancing efficiency and stability.
  3. Strong Anti-Interference Capability: Independent of ambient light, unaffected by color, printed patterns, or external light sources. Suitable for complex industrial environments, reducing debugging and maintenance efforts.
  4. Easy Installation and Maintenance: Features a channel-type structure for simple installation. Supports NPN+PNP outputs to meet diverse automation equipment needs. Includes self-learning and calibration functions to minimize manual operation errors.

Learning and Teaching Function

Power-on Status: Air indicator yellow, single sheet green, double sheet red.

  • Press and hold button for >2s to start flashing green light. Release to automatically learn single sheet (successful learning flashes green 3 times, failure flashes red 3 times).
  • When the button is pressed for over 5 seconds, the flashing green light switches to a flashing yellow light. Releasing the button at this point automatically learns double sheets (successful learning is indicated by 3 green flashes, failure is indicated by 3 red flashes).
  • When learning single sheets, the double sheet threshold is automatically set. Learning completes automatically, and the learning function has no time limit.

FAQ

An ultrasonic label sensor detects the thickness difference between the label and its backing paper by emitting and receiving high-frequency ultrasonic waves, thereby determining whether a label is present. Unlike photoelectric sensors, it does not rely on color, transparency, or printed features, making it effective for detecting transparent, irregularly shaped, or metallized labels. This principle ensures stable and reliable detection even on high-speed labeling machines and with diverse materials, preventing misjudgments caused by varying label substrates.

Ultrasonic label sensors work with paper, transparent, translucent, and foil labels. They distinguish single sheets from doubles and maintain stable operation even with highly reflective or dark labels. Since it relies on ultrasonic thickness detection rather than color or optical reflection, it remains virtually unaffected by label surface printing, color variations, or transparency. This makes it particularly suitable for high-speed, precision labeling production lines in food, beverage, and pharmaceutical packaging.

The slot-type ultrasonic sensor identifies labels and carrier materials based on printing patterns, transparency, and surface roughness, distinguishing between single-layer and double-layer materials. Examples include transparent labels on transparent carrier materials and labels with different printed patterns. The ultrasonic label sensor can detect labels with a minimum spacing of 2mm, offering high positioning accuracy, fast response time, and compact size.
