    An ultrasonic anemometer is a sensor that measures wind speed and direction using ultrasonic waves instead of mechanical rotating parts.

    It measures wind by detecting the time difference of ultrasonic signals sent and received between multiple probes. Airflow changes the speed of sound, allowing calculation of wind speed and direction.

    ultrasonic wind speed and direction sensor works well
    Needed a rugged ultrasonic wind speed and direction sensor for a remote ridge station setup. Went with the 24V DC feed configuration. Since there are no spinning cups to freeze solid over during winter blizzards, our data feeds stay clean all season. Had to spend about an hour getting the North orientation arrow aligned precisely during mounting, but it does the job.
