Installation

The gyroscope sensor should be mounted as close to the center of the object being measured as possible to minimize the impact of linear acceleration on measurement accuracy. The mounting surface should be kept parallel to the object being measured to minimize the effects of dynamic forces and acceleration on the inclinometer. Improper installation can lead to measurement errors, especially regarding the "surface" and "line":

Small gyroscope sensor installation

  • Ensure the digital gyro mounts securely and flatly to avoid measurement errors from uneven surfaces. See Figures ① and ②.
  • The electric gyro's axis must be parallel to the measured axis, with minimal angle between the two axes. See Figures ③ and ④.

FAQ

A 6-axis gyroscope combines a 3-axis gyroscope with a 3-axis accelerometer, allowing it to measure both rotational movement and linear acceleration along the X, Y, and Z axes. In contrast, a 3-axis gyroscope only tracks rotation along three perpendicular axes (pitch, yaw, and roll). The 6-axis sensor provides more comprehensive motion data, making it ideal for applications that require both orientation and movement detection, like robotics or drones.

The gyroscope should be mounted as close to the center of the object being measured as possible to minimize the impact of linear acceleration on accuracy. If it’s misaligned or positioned off-center, the sensor may pick up unwanted forces, resulting in inaccurate measurements.

An IP67 rating means that the gyroscope sensor is dustproof and waterproof to a certain extent. It can be submerged in water up to 1 meter deep for up to 30 minutes, making it suitable for use in harsh environments like outdoor applications or industrial settings.
