    Overview

A GPS vehicle speed sensor is an electronic device that uses satellite positioning technology to measure vehicle speed and convert GPS data into pulse signals for speedometers, tachographs, driving recorders, and vehicle control systems. The SUCH GPS vehicle speed sensor provides accurate speed measurement with programmable pulse output, making it suitable for replacing traditional mechanical speed sensors in various vehicle applications.

    Feature

    • ±0.2% speed measurement accuracy for precise vehicle speed and mileage calculation
    • Anti-drift GPS processing technology ensures stable pulse output by reducing positioning jitter at low speeds or during stationary conditions
    • Programmable pulse output supports up to 50,000 pulses/km with positive and negative pulse signals for flexible instrument compatibility
    • Dual reverse-phase speed outputs allow connection to two separate speedometers, tachographs, or control systems
    • 5000 pulses/km tunnel and bridge compensation maintains continuous pulse output during temporary GPS signal loss
    • Wide 6–36VDC input voltage range (rated 8–32VDC) supports standard 12V and 24V vehicle electrical systems
    • Shock-resistant housing with circuit protection provides reliable operation in vibration-prone vehicle environments

    Installation

A GPS vehicle speed senso should be installed in a location with a clear view of the sky to ensure stable satellite signal reception. Connect the power supply and pulse output wires according to the vehicle instrument requirements.

    • Mount the GPS antenna on a flat surface with minimal obstruction from metal parts or electronic interference sources.
    • Connect the sensor power input to the vehicle power supply (6–36VDC).
    • Connect the pulse output signal to the speedometer, tachograph, or vehicle control system.
    • Configure the pulse ratio according to the connected instrument requirements.
    • Verify the speed signal output after installation and calibration.

    • Ensure the GPS antenna faces upward for better satellite reception.
    • Avoid installation near high-power electrical equipment.
    • Secure the cable to prevent vibration damage.
    • Check pulse output compatibility before connecting to the instrument.

    How It Works

The GPS vehicle speed sensor receives signals from multiple satellites and calculates vehicle speed through GPS positioning algorithms. The processed speed data is converted into standard pulse signals and transmitted to vehicle instruments such as speedometers and tachographs.GPS speed sensor working principle diagram showing pulse signal output

    Note: Signal Processing Process

GPS Satellite Signal → Vehicle Speed Calculation → Anti-Drift Signal Processing → Pulse Signal Conversion → Speedometer / Tachograph Input

    FAQ

A GPS vehicle speed sensor provides ±0.2% speed deviation by calculating vehicle speed through satellite positioning, while traditional mechanical speed sensors typically have 3–5% deviation due to wheel rotation errors.

Yes. The GPS speed sensor can replace traditional mechanical speed sensors by generating speed pulse signals compatible with vehicle speedometers, tachographs, digital dashboards, and other vehicle speed measurement systems.

The sensor supports programmable positive and negative pulse outputs up to 50,000 pulses/km and provides adjustable speed ratio settings for compatibility with different vehicle instruments.

gps speed sensor was a good upgrade
ordered a GPS speed sensor for a vehicle monitoring project. I wanted something different from the traditional wheel speed pickup, and this one was easier to install than expected. the signal output worked well with my controller after some setup. I tested it on different routes and the readings stayed stable. still checking long-term performance, but so far it has been a useful solution.
