FAQ

Albedo refers to the reflectivity of a surface, expressed as the ratio of reflected solar radiation to the incoming solar radiation. It indicates how much sunlight a surface reflects rather than absorbs.

It measures upward (reflected) shortwave radiation and compares it with downward (incoming) shortwave radiation, allowing accurate calculation of surface albedo.

A standard pyranometer measures only incoming shortwave radiation. An albedo sensor uses two matched detectors (one upward-facing and one downward-facing) to measure both incoming and reflected radiation for accurate reflectance calculation.
