    FAQ

An absolute multiturn encoder is a position sensor that provides both the exact angular position within one revolution and the total number of revolutions the shaft has turned. It retains this position information even after power is lost.

A single-turn absolute encoder measures position only within one 360° rotation, while a multi-turn absolute encoder also counts the number of full rotations. This allows multi-turn encoders to track position over long travel distances.

The main advantage is that multi-turn encoder remembers the absolute position over multiple revolutions without requiring homing after power loss, making it ideal for applications like linear actuators, cranes, elevators, and robotics where precise long-range positioning is needed.
