    Based on working principles, proximity sensors can be classified into several types: inductive sensors for detecting metal objects; capacitive sensors for detecting conductive or non-conductive liquids and solids; photoelectric sensors for detecting all light-blocking materials; ultrasonic sensors for detecting materials that ultrasonic waves cannot penetrate, etc.

    By structure, proximity sensors include cylindrical, square, ditch-type, perforating, and separated types. Cylindrical types are easier to install while offering similar detection performance to square types. Ditch-type sensors house the sensing area inside a groove to detect objects passing through it. Perforating types are used for very small parts such as tiny screws or balls, and can be combined with floats for level detection applications.

    By power supply, they are divided into DC type and AC type. By output form, they include DC two-wire, DC three-wire, DC four-wire, AC two-wire, and AC three-wire types, allowing different wiring and control options based on application needs.
