    FAQ

A magnetic linear encoder is a sensor that measures linear displacement using magnetic fields. It consists of a magnetic scale (strip or tape) and a read head that detects changes in the magnetic field as it moves along the scale, generating electrical signals corresponding to position and movement.

The read head contains magnetic sensors (such as Hall effect or magnetoresistive elements) that detect the alternating magnetic poles on the magnetic scale. As the read head moves, it outputs incremental or absolute signals representing the linear position, movement distance, and direction.

Magnetic linear encoders are durable, resistant to dust, oil, and vibration, and can operate in harsh industrial environments. Magnetic linear encoders provide high reliability and relatively good accuracy, though their resolution is generally lower than that of optical linear encoders.
