    Overview

A mmWave human presence sensor is a 60GHz FMCW radar device that detects human presence, motion, and micro-movements such as breathing within a room. The SUCH sensor covers up to 20m² with adjustable detection range and up to four zones, responds within 1 second, and supports RS-485 (Modbus-RTU), LoRa, and LoRaWAN communication. It is suitable for smart lighting, occupancy monitoring, and building energy management applications requiring accurate, non-intrusive presence detection.

    Feature

    • 60GHz FMCW Radar: Detects both movement and stationary presence via Doppler and phase-change analysis, including subtle motion like breathing.
    • 20m² Adjustable Coverage, ±60° Beam: Flexible zone setup for different room sizes and layouts.
    • RS-485, LoRa, LoRaWAN Output: Supports Modbus-RTU and wireless protocols for direct integration into automation systems.
    • Sub-1-Second Response: Detects presence in under 1 second, reverts to "no one" in about 30 seconds.
    • Through-Obstacle Sensing: Penetrates thin materials like glass or wood for concealed installation.
    • Impact-Resistant ABS Housing: Supports ceiling or wall mounting for continuous indoor use.

    FAQ

A mmWave human presence sensor uses 60GHz FMCW radar technology to detect human presence, movement, and micro-movements such as breathing. Unlike traditional motion sensors, it can detect stationary people by analyzing radar signal changes, making it suitable for smart lighting, occupancy monitoring, and building automation.

The detection range of a mmWave human presence sensor depends on the model and installation environment. This sensor supports up to 20m² adjustable detection coverage with a ±60° beam angle, allowing flexible setup for different room sizes and layouts.

A mmWave human presence sensor can detect both moving and stationary occupants, including subtle movements such as breathing, while a PIR motion sensor mainly detects changes in infrared heat caused by movement. mmWave sensors provide more accurate presence detection for applications where people may remain still, such as offices, bedrooms, and meeting rooms.
